Facade 365

iOS, Android and web

A survey and installation app for a facade inspection firm, spanning iOS, Android, a web dashboard and an AI photo-sorting pipeline.

The problem

AAI Selby's installers were producing hundreds of site photographs a week, and every one of them had to be matched by hand to the right job, the right elevation and the right drawing. That sorting happened in the office, after the fact, from whatever had made it off the phones. It was slow, it was somebody's whole afternoon, and photographs went missing between the scaffold and the spreadsheet.

What we built

A photo inbox that runs across the whole system. Installers capture on iOS or Android, even with no signal on site, and each image uploads against the job automatically as soon as the phone has a connection. The web dashboard gives the office a single queue to review. On top of that sits an AI sorting step that reads each photograph and proposes which drawing and elevation it belongs to, so the office is confirming a suggestion rather than starting from nothing. The iOS app has been live on the App Store throughout.

The result

The sorting work moved off the office floor and onto the phone that took the picture. Photographs arrive attached to the job rather than arriving loose, and the review that used to be an afternoon is now a queue somebody clears. The client extended the engagement to cover the AI photo sorting after seeing the first phase.

“What we’ve particularly valued is having someone we can come back to as our requirements change. Blain understands our business and helps us work out the most practical way forward.”
